SASN Limpopo chief spearheads massive grassroots Netball revival

In a major push to revolutionize youth sports in Limpopo, Sasha-Lee Jansen Van Rensburg, the Provincial Manager of the Limpopo Schools Netball Committee, has launched a passionate crusade to empower the next generation of female athletes through urgent grassroots development.
Operating under the South African Schools Netball (SASN) banner, Van Rensburg is taking the fight directly to the province’s structural challenges. Driven by the core belief that young girls can achieve the impossible when given the right backing, she is on a mission to completely overhaul early-stage sports development and build a formidable foundation for future stars.
The stakes are incredibly high in Limpopo, where young sporting hopefuls frequently battle severe resource shortages, a critical lack of accredited coaches, and limited developmental pathways. Van Rensburg, who fell in love with the game at a young age, warned that without immediate intervention and properly trained coaches, thousands of young girls risk abandoning the sport before their athletic journeys even begin.
In a game-changing intervention, Van Rensburg is throwing her full weight behind the highly acclaimed PEP mini Netball programme.
The crucial initiative has arrived at the perfect time, bridging the developmental gap by actively upskilling local coaches across her district.
By equipping coaches with the right tools, the programme ensures they can properly mentor young talent, teach the fundamentals, and foster a winning mentality from day one.
“My goal is to truly have as many little girls fall in love with the sport that I love,” Van Rensburg declared.
“As someone who was and still is in love with netball, I’m grateful to be part of these young players’ journeys.”
Van Rensburg heavily praised PEP’s vital structural investment in the coaching sector. She emphasized that the initiative goes far beyond the court — it is actively transforming communities, building critical support systems, fostering vital friendships, and ultimately securing the future of Limpopo’s sporting youth.
