Four people have died in a devastating head-on collision on the R519 near Bergenet in Limpopo, marking another deadly weekend on the province’s roads.

According to preliminary reports, the crash involved two double-cab vehicles on Sunday. Four people were declared dead at the scene, while several other occupants sustained serious injuries.

Emergency services and law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene, where they attended to the injured and managed the aftermath of the crash.

The road, which was temporarily affected while authorities worked at the scene, has since been reopened to traffic.

The latest fatal crash comes just days after another serious accident on Thursday evening between the Kranskop Toll Gate and the Engen service station. In that incident, one person died and four others sustained serious injuries.

Authorities have again urged motorists to exercise extreme caution, obey the rules of the road and remain alert, particularly during peak travel periods.
