MK PARTY ALLEGES 600 EXCESS BALLOTS AND MULTIPLE VOTING IN EMALAHLENI WARDS

Emalahleni: The MK Party has raised serious concerns over the integrity of the 2026 Local Government Elections in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga, alleging discrepancies involving approximately 600 additional votes in Wards 4 and 23.

According to MK Party Mpumalanga Chairperson, Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebani, the results for the two wards have been withheld following alleged discrepancies between the number of votes recorded and the number of registered voters.

Mkhwebani claims that the results reflect approximately 600 more votes than the number of registered voters, raising suspicions of possible electoral irregularities and what the party describes as the presence of ‘ghost voters’.

In a further serious allegation, the party claims to have evidence suggesting that a municipal official, identified as Rachel Mashigo, voted on four separate occasions during the elections.

Mkhwebani alleges that the matter has been brought to the attention of law enforcement authorities and claims that Mashigo could face arrest in connection with suspected electoral fraud.

However, the allegations have not yet been independently verified, and no arrest or criminal charges have been confirmed.

The claims raise questions about the circumstances surrounding the withheld results and whether the alleged discrepancies resulted from administrative errors, ballot-accounting irregularities or possible electoral misconduct.

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) is expected to clarify the reasons behind the withholding of the results and address the allegations.

MDNTV will continue following developments as the IEC, police and other relevant authorities are approached for comment.
