Sons of Rhythm Member MSA Faces Protection Order Over Abuse and Sexual Assault Allegations
The former girlfriend of South African DJ and music producer Msawenkosi Chubeka, professionally known as MSA, has filed a protection order against him following serious allegations of physical abuse, property damage, and sexual assault during their relationship.
Chubeka, who recently formed the musical duo Sons of Rhythm, is accused in an affidavit of multiple instances of violence.
In the legal document, the woman details a harrowing incident from November 20, 2023, where she claims Chubeka forced himself on her while she was pregnant, an act she states directly resulted in a miscarriage.
Furthermore, she alleges that in December of last year, an intoxicated Chubeka entered her home, accused her of infidelity, physically assaulted her, and vandalised her property.
In response to the claims, Chubeka has filed a counter-protection order against his former partner.
His legal filing reportedly seeks to bar her from speaking publicly about him, sharing details of their past relationship, or discussing him on social media platforms.
A close friend of the woman confirmed that both individuals have sought legal protection against one another, noting that while the woman wishes to move past the relationship, she remains deeply traumatised by the miscarriage.
Chubeka is a well-established figure in the South African dance music industry, with a career spanning over a decade. Originally from Cape Town and currently based in Johannesburg, his production credits include collaborations with major artists such as Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Buffalo Souljah, and Ice Prince.
He recently signed with Tbo Touch’s Vengeance record label while remaining under Mud House Music Entertainment Studios, and his hit single “eGoli” has garnered over five million streams.
The allegations against Chubeka have not yet been tested in a court of law, and he could not be reached for comment at the time of publication.
