Western Cape SAPS Offers R50,000 Reward in Nyanga Murder Investigation After Protection Fee Killing

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Western Cape has announced a cash reward of up to R50,000 for information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the fatal shooting of a businessman in Nyanga.

The appeal comes as investigators continue to search for suspects involved in the killing of 35 year old Ghanaian national Bashira Issaka, who was shot dead inside his business premises during what police believe was an alleged protection fee extortion attack.

The incident unfolded on 29 June 2026 at approximately 15:45, when Nyanga police responded to reports of a shooting at a red container business premises in the area.

According to police, armed suspects allegedly entered the premises and demanded a protection fee before fatally shooting Issaka. He died at the scene.

Investigators are pursuing every available lead as they work to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing.

Western Cape SAPS has urged members of the public to come forward with any information that could assist the investigation. Police said all information will be treated with the strictest confidence, and the identities of informants will remain anonymous.

A reward of up to R50,000 is being offered for information that directly leads to the successful arrest and conviction of the suspects.

Authorities believe that community cooperation could prove crucial in solving the case and ensuring that those responsible are brought before the courts.

Anyone with information related to the shooting is encouraged to contact the investigating officer or report it through the appropriate SAPS channels. All information received will be handled confidentially as the investigation continues.
