The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Mpumalanga scored a major victory when they arrested a man with dagga estimated to be worth over R3 million.

According to Mpumalanga SAPS Spokesperson, Captain Mpho Nonyane-Mpe, officers stationed at Kaapmuiden were conducting routine patrol duties along the N4 road when they noticed a brown Toyota Hilux parked on the roadside.
The vehicle was fitted with a brown canopy and bore Mpumalanga registration plates.
“The astute members stopped to investigate and discovered that the vehicle was fully loaded with 41 bags of dagga. The confiscated dagga weighed approximately 502,6 kilograms and had an estimated street value exceeding R3 million,” Nonyane-Mpe said.
Nonyane-Mpe said the 37-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene on charges of dealing in dagga.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Barberton Magistrate’s Court on Thursday (today).
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi, commended the officers for their dedication and commitment to combating drug-related crimes. He emphasised their role in ensuring safer communities through intelligence-led operations and continued cooperation with members of the public.
