Early Monday morning, the Western Cape was rocked by a series of violent incidents in Harare, Khayelitsha, leaving four people dead.

Police report that the first discovery was made around midnight in the Enkandla informal settlement, where a male victim was found burnt beyond recognition. While investigating this scene, officers were alerted to two more burnt bodies nearby. Later in the early hours, a fourth victim, a 30-year-old man, was found with multiple stab wounds.

Authorities say the incidents bear the hallmarks of vigilante attacks and have condemned the violence. “Taking the law into one’s own hands is a criminal offence and will not be tolerated. Such acts spread fear and disrupt communities,” said a police spokesperson.
Investigations are ongoing, and police urge residents to report suspicious activities through official channels rather than resorting to violence. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS App.
