Ex-Pirates star Sifiso Myeni begs Pirates to unleash Pedersen

Sifiso Myeni has expressed his dissatisfaction with how Orlando Pirates have treated new striker Sebastian Pedersen, saying they have been unfair, and urges coach Abdeslam Ouaddou to change course.

The Norwegian striker joined the Buccaneers from Sogndal at the start of the season on a two-year deal with an option for a further year. But the 27-year-old has barely featured in matchday squads, raising questions about his role under Ouaddou.

Myeni, speaking on Omni Audio Africa this week, says he believes Pedersen deserves the same opportunities as the other strikers at the club.

“Orlando Pirates are not fair to Pedersen. Give the man a chance, guys. The way you’ve been giving the other strikers a chance,” he said.

“Evidence Makgopa, Boitumelo Radiopane, Yanela Mbuthuma… Pedersen also deserves the same chance that everyone is getting.

“As Orlando Pirates supporters, we want to see more of him getting a chance so that we can judge him, because now a lot of people are judging him when we haven’t seen that much from him.”

Myeni pointed to the gap in game time between Pedersen and his rivals for a starting spot.

“Some have had five, six, seven, eight games. All of them have had a lot of games, but Pedersen’s games are very few, do you understand? So, Orlando Pirates, can we please see more of Pedersen,” he said.

“We know that you guys want to win, but us as fans, we would like to see more of Pedersen. We can’t sign a player and then not have a say. Let’s see him.

“Everyone has gotten a chance. So Orlando Pirates, please, we beg you, and I beg you personally, I want to see more of him.”

Pedersen has only played coming off the bench, but has been completely left out of the team in the last few games.
