Three Arrested After R720,000 CAT Drug Bust In Komani
Three suspects, aged between 41 and 54, have been arrested in Komani after police allegedly seized 120kg of methcathinone, commonly known as CAT, worth more than R720,000.
The suspects were arrested on Sunday night after police intercepted a champagne-coloured Toyota Fortuner on the N6 near Ultra City.
Police said they had received information that the vehicle was travelling from Cofimvaba. A search of the vehicle allegedly led to the discovery of the drugs.
The suspects allegedly offered a police officer R2,000 to avoid arrest.
Police seized the drugs, cash and vehicle.
The two men and a woman are facing charges of dealing in drugs and bribery. The woman is also facing a charge under the Immigration Act.
They are expected to appear in the Komani Magistrates’ Court tommorow, Tuesday, 15 September.
Police spokesperson Captain Yolisa Mgolodela confirmed the arrests, while district commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph commended the officers involved in the operation.
