Police Launch Inquest After Body of Unidentified Woman Retrieved From Liebenbergsvlei River

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has launched an investigation following the recovery of an unidentified woman’s body from the Liebenbergsvlei River outside Bohlokong.

The recovery operation was conducted by the Phuthaditjhaba Police Search and Rescue Diving Team, led by Sergeant Mabe and Constable Rampai, who worked alongside local Emergency Medical Services personnel to retrieve the deceased from the river.

Authorities estimate that the woman was in her twenties.

At the time her body was recovered, she was wearing a pink T-shirt and blue tracksuit pants.

Because her identity remains a mystery, police have officially opened an inquest docket to determine the exact circumstances that led to her death.

SAPS is appealing to members of the community for assistance. Anyone who has a missing relative matching this description, or who has information that could help identify the deceased or locate her family, is urgently requested to contact Bohlokong Detective Warrant Officer Hescock on 082 453 0794.
