Nigerian National Arrested in Lephalale After Police Seize Cat and Crystal Meth Worth R10,000
A 48 year old Nigerian national has been arrested in Lephalale after police seized suspected drugs worth an estimated R10,000 during an intelligence driven operation targeting alleged drug dealing activities in the area.
The arrest was carried out on Tuesday, 21 July 2026, at around 08:00 in Onverwacht, within the Lephalale policing area, following information received by police about a man allegedly involved in the distribution of drugs.
Members of the Lephalale Detectives and K9 Dog Unit acted on the information and proceeded to a residence where the suspect was located. According to police, the man allowed officers to conduct a search, which led to the discovery of various quantities of suspected illegal substances.
Police seized the following drugs during the operation:
• Three packets containing 5 grams of Cat drugs
• Twenty one packets containing 2.5 grams of Cat drugs
• Five packets containing 2.5 grams of Crystal Meth drugs
The seized substances are estimated to have a street value of approximately R10,000.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and is facing a charge of possession of drugs. He is expected to appear before the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 23 July 2026.
Police confirmed that investigations into the matter are ongoing as authorities continue efforts to disrupt illegal drug activities in the area.
The arrest forms part of ongoing police operations aimed at tackling drug related crimes and removing illegal substances from communities across Limpopo.
