Kaizer Chiefs strengthen technical team with European goalkeeping guru
Kaizer Chiefs have continued their major rebuild ahead of the new Betway Premiership season by appointing highly-rated French coach Olivier Sorin as the club’s new goalkeeper coach.
The Glamour Boys confirmed that Sorin has signed a two-year contract, with an option to extend his stay by a further year.
Sorin arrives at Naturena with an impressive pedigree, having established himself as one of Europe’s respected goalkeeper coaches after a successful career between the posts.
Holding a prestigious UEFA Goalkeeper A Licence, the Frenchman has spent the last decade developing elite goalkeepers at the highest level of the game.
“Over the past decade, Sorin has played a pivotal role in shaping the careers of several international goalkeepers, including Édouard Mendy, Steve Mandanda, Doğan Alemdar, among many others,” said Chiefs in a statement.
The experienced coach has already arrived in South Africa and will form part of the new-look technical team under recently appointed head coach Fernando da Cruz.
His appointment is another clear indication that Chiefs are investing heavily behind the scenes as they look to restore the club to its former glory after several inconsistent seasons.
Amakhosi supporters will be hoping Sorin’s vast European experience can help elevate the club’s goalkeeping department and play a key role in the team’s ambitions for the upcoming campaign.
