GAGASH TO RE-APPLY FOR BAIL AS STATE PLANS TO ADD MORE CHARGES
POLOKEANE: TshwaneTraffic Management and Policing (TMPD) officer Constable Peter Nonyane, popularly known as “Gagash”, is expected to re-apply for bail on 13 November 2026 at the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) informed the court that Nonyane’s co-accused and suspended attorney wife, Charlotte Tibana, must also be present on the next court appearance, as the State intends to add further charges against both of them.
The latest development comes after the Polokwane High Court dismissed the couple’s bail appeal, leaving them behind bars as they continue facing allegations linked to an alleged R6-million estate fraud and money-laundering scheme.
The matter involves four accused, including Rirhandzu Tibana and Jabulani Maluleke, who appeared at the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
However, Rirandzu Tibana and Maluleke will not be joining the couple on the November bail proceedings, as they are expected to return to court on 27 November 2026 for a trial-related appearance at the Regional Court.
The allegations stem from an investigation into the alleged fraudulent handling of estate funds, with the accused facing allegations relating to fraud, theft and money laundering.
The State alleges that approximately R11 million was involved in the alleged scheme. The accused have previously appeared in court as the prosecution continues building its case.
The case has attracted public attention because of Nonyane’s position as a traffic police officer and the involvement of his wife, a suspended legal practitioner.
The matter is expected to take another significant turn when Nonyane and Charlotte Tibana return to court next week ( 13 November 2026) particularly with the State indicating its intention to introduce additional charges.
