Former IDAC and Crime Intelligence Chiefs Released on Bail Following Arrest for Defeating the Ends of Justice
The former head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), Advocate Andrea Johnson, and former deputy head of Crime Intelligence, Major-General Feroz Khan, were released on R10,000 bail each today in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.
This follows their arrest on Friday morning, 30 October 2026, by police officers from the Commissions Recommendation Task Team (CRTT).
The duo faces charges related to defeating the ends of justice, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and violating the NPA Act.
Their case has been postponed to 2 February 2027 for further investigation. The prosecution of the two emerged following damning evidence presented at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
At the commission, it was revealed that Johnson sent confidential docket information regarding an assault case faced by Khan in 2018.
This was allegedly done to help Khan alter his defense statement before he was officially investigated.
Andrea Johnson resigned from her position as head of IDAC in July 2026 after refusing to answer certain questions at the commission, while Feroz Khan was dismissed from the South African Police Service (SAPS) in September 2026 following his failure to attend disciplinary hearings.
The state expressed confidence, confirming that the police have strong evidence in this case.
