Da Cruz fumes after Chiefs gift Richards Bay two goals
Kaizer Chiefs coach Fernando Da Cruz believes his side threw away two points against Richards Bay.
Amakhosi twice came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw. Da Cruz felt Chiefs were the better team but were punished by costly defensive mistakes.
“We lost two points today,” Da Cruz said after the match at Durban’s Princess Magogo Stadium. “We played a very good game, we were better than the opponents.”
“We drew not because the opponent was better but because we made too many mistakes.” The Chiefs coach was encouraged by the impact of his substitutes.
Faiz Abrahams and Asanele Velebayi both impressed after coming on. Velebayi played a key role in the equaliser, setting up Siphesihle Ndlovu. “Since the beginning our substitutes have made good jobs when coming on,” Da Cruz said.
“We need to keep this mindset because we don’t only need 11 players but the whole squad.” Chiefs remain unbeaten and sit third with eight points from four games.
They are two points behind leaders Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
