Mtasingwa speaks of Amakhosi structure as they chase a statement win before the break
Kaizer Chiefs head into Sunday’s Betway Premiership clash with Lamontville Golden Arrows hungry to turn promising football into points — and to carry real momentum into the international break.
For midfielder Adolf Mtasingwa, the meeting with Abafana Bes’thende is more than another fixture. It’s a chance to cash in.
“It is massively important to us as a team considering our recent results,” says the Tanzanian.
“We always focus on the next game and are looking forward to it because we really want to boost our momentum with a win ahead of the FIFA international break that follows.”
Chiefs remain unbeaten, but the rhythm has stalled. Two opening wins have been followed by three draws and one win in the four games.
They sit fourth on 12 points after six matches — five clear of seventh-placed Arrows — and Mtasingwa says the table does not tell the full story.
“Our game model is well structured. It’s just that we have been unlucky with results,” he added. “We have a good spirit in the camp. We have had a full week to get ready, and we are feeling positive about the game this weekend.”
The venue tilts the contest their way. Instead of Durban, the game is at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit, where Amakhosi’s following is loud and loyal.
“The venue can count in our favour because we always have a lot of our fans that turn out to support us, for which we are very grateful.
“Their support is a big motivator for us because we want to make them proud and happy,” said Mtasingwa.
Kick-off for the game is at 3pm, on Sunday 20 September, at Mbombela Stadium.
