Moja Love Host Sihle Sibisi Criticises King Misuzulu and Zulu Royal Family Over Leaked Video

King Misuzulu, King Misuzulu video

A fresh controversy has engulfed the Zulu Royal Family after Moja Love television presenter and activist Sihle Sibisi publicly condemned King Misuzulu kaZwelithini in the wake of a leaked video that has ignited widespread debate across South Africa.

The video, which surfaced last week, appears to show the Zulu monarch angrily reprimanding his wife, Queen Nomzamo “Mdolomba” Myeni-Zulu, while holding what appears to be a bottle of alcohol. Its circulation has prompted renewed scrutiny of the King’s private conduct and fuelled conversations about gender based violence, accountability and leadership.

Sibisi, who presents Fake Pastors and Fake Marriages on Moja Love (DStv Channel 157), has emerged as one of the most outspoken voices following the video’s release. A long time friend of Queen Nomzamo, Sibisi attended the couple’s wedding and has previously been linked to the King through past public controversies.

Several years ago, Sibisi claimed she had been romantically involved with King Misuzulu and released a video showing him in bed. The claims came after members of the Zulu Royal Family accused her of falsely presenting herself as someone connected to the royal household. She also previously shared an audio recording in which the King could allegedly be heard shouting insults at her while appearing intoxicated.

Speaking in a strongly worded TikTok video, Sibisi accused the King of being an abuser of women and said he requires professional rehabilitation rather than continued public protection because of his royal status.

“This man needs help. Let us set his position aside and face the man directly. This man needs help. He is an abuser of women. Saying he is the King, the King who speaks no lies, that is a mistake,” Sibisi said.

The founder and president of the Kwanele Foundation argued that ordinary South Africans would have faced swift public condemnation under similar circumstances.

She claimed that if an ordinary man had behaved in the same way, activists would already be demanding his arrest, but alleged that the King’s position has resulted in a different response.

According to Sibisi, overlooking the allegations because of the King’s status risks weakening South Africa’s ongoing fight against gender based violence.

“We have young boys who look up to the King. There are boys who will think that if the King acts this way, they can do it too,” she said.

Sibisi has built a public profile as an advocate against violence towards women. She was among the women who publicly accused the late Nigerian televangelist TB Joshua of sexual abuse in the BBC documentary Disciples: The Cult of TB Joshua.

Addressing speculation surrounding the leaked footage, Sibisi insisted that Queen Nomzamo did not release the video on social media.

She claimed the recording was made several years ago and said the Queen had shared it privately with an elderly member of the Zulu Royal Family after allegedly struggling to convince others that she was experiencing abuse.

According to Sibisi, it was that royal family member who later leaked the footage after relations between the two women reportedly deteriorated. These claims have not been independently verified.

Sibisi also challenged public narratives surrounding Queen Nomzamo’s personal life. She said the Queen had only one child when she began dating King Misuzulu, long before he ascended to the throne.

Turning her criticism towards the wider Zulu Royal Family, Sibisi accused senior figures of failing to protect the Queen and of creating an environment in which women feel unable to speak openly about their experiences.

She further claimed that public perceptions about alcohol consumption within the royal household are misleading, alleging that drinking is not limited to one individual.

Sibisi is no stranger to controversy. Beyond her work exposing alleged religious scams on Fake Pastors, she has previously called on the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa to investigate the Mzansi Magic reality series Nandi and The Rev, alleging abusive behaviour within the programme.

She has also faced criticism herself. In the past, the SA Church Defenders organisation publicly challenged her work exposing alleged misconduct involving religious leaders.

The latest allegations involving King Misuzulu have once again placed the Zulu Royal Family under intense public scrutiny. At the time of publication, neither King Misuzulu nor the Zulu Royal Family had publicly responded to Sibisi’s latest remarks. The authenticity of the leaked video and the allegations made by Sibisi have not been independently verified.
