WILLIAMS REVEALS WHAT WORRIES BAFANA MOST ABOUT SOUTH KOREA

Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams has admitted that South Korea will be one of South Africa’s toughest tests yet at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The goalkeeper made the comments after Bafana’s hard-fought 1-1 draw against the Czech Republic in Atlanta, a result that kept their hopes of reaching the knockout stages alive.

South Africa has since returned to its base camp in Pachuca, Mexico, where preparations are already under way for the decisive Group A clash in Monterrey.

While South Korea head into the match following a defeat to Mexico, Williams believes the Asian side remains a serious threat.

The Bafana skipper praised the Tigers of Asia, highlighting their quality, pace and movement.

“It’s gonna be tough, it’s gonna be tough. They are so good,” Williams said.

“The movement, the quality, the power, the speed and the quality of the players, it’s amazing.”

Despite the challenge ahead, Williams believes Bafana have every chance of causing an upset if they prepare properly.

The Mamelodi Sundowns star said the technical team has already started studying South Korea’s strengths and weaknesses.

“It’s another opportunity for us to go and compete and I’m sure the guys will be ready,” he added.

“We have to analyse them to see their strengths and weaknesses, how we can potentially hurt them as well and how they can hurt us.”

The match has become a virtual knockout fixture for Bafana, with South Africa knowing that victory would significantly boost their chances of reaching the Round of 32.

After showing character to bounce back from their opening defeat to Mexico, Williams and his teammates now face arguably their biggest challenge yet as they attempt to keep their World Cup dream alive.
