Watch: Ex-Premier League Star Andros Townsend Run Over by a Pitch Roller

Football fans have seen some bizarre pre-match mishaps, but this one takes the cake: former Premier League winger Andros Townsend was flattened by a groundskeeper’s roller during warm-ups — and lived to tell the tale.

The ex-England international has turned out for the likes of Tottenham, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Everton and Luton during a 291-appearance Premier League career.

He was going through his usual pre-match routine ahead of his Thai League club PT Prachuap’s away trip to Pattani when disaster struck.

Viral footage shows the roller trundling onto the pitch and ploughing straight into the back of Townsend’s legs, sending the 35-year-old crashing to the turf.

To make matters worse, the machine then rolled partially over him as his teammates looked on in stunned disbelief, seemingly powerless to stop the slow-motion horror unfolding in front of them.

Somehow, against all odds, Townsend got up completely unscathed — no serious injury, no fuss.

In fact, he shrugged it off so well he came off the bench in the second half and helped his side cruise to a comfortable 3-0 win, lifting PT Prachuap up to second on the Thai Premier League table.

Townsend, who has 13 England caps to his name, has been plying his trade in Thailand for over a year now, having first made the move to Kanchanaburi Power last year.

Somehow, this might just be the most talked-about moment of his time there so far — and he didn’t even need to kick a ball to make headlines.
