Intimidation Case Opened After Alleged Threats At Sandton Restaurant

Police are investigating a case of intimidation after a man allegedly threatened a woman and her companions at Vlamo Restaurant in Sandton Gate on Thursday, 18 September 2026, at about 20:15.

The woman was attending a private birthday dinner when the man approached the group and offered to take photographs. After they declined, he allegedly demanded her phone number.

When she asked him to leave them alone, the man allegedly became abusive and threatened to shoot and kll her, including threatening to put “a bllet” in her. He also allegedly claimed he was wealthy, owned the restaurant and would not face consequences.

Restaurant staff removed him from the powder-room area. A companion later apologised to the woman and allegedly urged her not to escalate the matter, claiming the man was “well-connected”.

The restaurant owner reviewed video footage of the incident and had the man removed from the premises. No firearm was seen and no injuries were reported.

A video of the confrontation went viral on Saturday. Vlamo said the man is neither the owner nor an employee of the restaurant, and confirmed that a case had been opened. The restaurant also said visible security measures would be increased.

Police confirmed that the investigation is continuing.
