Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – The determination by Western Cape police members to fight against crime and to ensure that the offenders of the law are sent to court to answer for their crime yielded positive results as members arrested two suspects for separate incidents. On Thursday 13 February 2025 at around 06:00, members of K9 Unit Cape Town, together with Maitland Flying Squad conducted an intelligence driven operation and arrested a 31-year-old male after he and three other unknown suspects hijacked a vehicle in Goodwood. A vehicle chase ensued, and Cape Town K9 Unit members managed to pull over the vehicle in Manenberg. One suspect was arrested and detained at Manenberg SAPS. The members also recovered one magazine with rounds of ammunition, which was found possession of the suspect. In a separate incident members attached to Harare Crime Prevention Unit arrested a 41-year-old male after following up on information received about a firearm being kept at a premises in Mandela Park, Harare. The members found and seized a firearm with two rounds of ammunition. The suspect was arrested and detained at Harare SAPS for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition. The two suspects will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court today 14 February 2025 on the mentioned charges. Ends
