Two Injured As Light Aircraft Crashes At Midrand Intersection
Two people have been injured when a light aircraft crashed near the intersection of New Road and Old Pretoria Main Road (R101) in Glen Austin, Midrand, today, Tuesday afternoon.
The aircraft came down near a business complex, with both occupants sustaining injuries. Emergency crews responded to the scene, where private ambulance services treated the injured occupants before they were transported to hospital.
A secondary motor-vehicle crash occurred at the same intersection shortly afterwards, causing severe traffic disruptions and heavy delays in the area. Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officers were deployed to manage traffic, secure the scene, and implement diversions.
The exact circumstances and cause of the aircraft crash have not yet been confirmed. Authorities are expected to investigate the incident.
