Ramoreboli Returns to Bafana as Mosimane’s assistant
Morena Ramoreboli is set to return to the Bafana Bafana setup, where he will work under head coach Pitso Mosimane after a successful spell in Botswana.
The South African Football Association (SAFA) and Botswana Football Association (BFA) confirmed the move, describing it as a reflection of the “strong footballing relationship between the two neighbouring countries.”
Ramoreboli leaves Botswana with an impressive legacy. During his time at Jwaneng Galaxy, he won two Botswana Premier League titles and guided the club to the CAF Champions League group stage twice.
His biggest achievement came during the 2024 AFCON qualifying campaign when, initially serving as interim coach, he guided Botswana to the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time since 2012.
The BFA said Ramoreboli had made a “meaningful and lasting contribution to Botswana football. They added that his role in taking the Zebras to AFCON after a 12-year absence “will remain an important part of his legacy.”
“We would naturally have preferred to retain him, but we understand the significance of this opportunity and respect his decision,” BFA president Oabile Tariq Babitseng said.
Ramoreboli previously led Bafana to the 2021 COSAFA Cup title without conceding a goal.
SAFA president Danny Jordaan welcomed his return, saying: “We are delighted to welcome Morena Ramoreboli back into the Bafana Bafana environment.”
Jordaan added that Ramoreboli “knows South African football, understands African football” and has proved he can build competitive teams and deliver results.
SAFA believes his experience will strengthen Mosimane’s technical team as Bafana prepare for the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.
