A deadly landslide in western Kenya has left at least 21 people dead following days of intense rainfall. The disaster struck Marakwet East late Friday night, sweeping through homes and cutting off access to nearby villages.
Authorities say more than 30 people are still missing, while 25 survivors with severe injuries have been airlifted for medical care. Rescue operations have been hindered by blocked roads and flooding, though efforts are set to resume as weather conditions allow.
Emergency teams, including the military and Red Cross, are preparing to deliver food, medical aid, and other supplies to affected families. The government has urged residents in high-risk areas to move to safer ground as heavy rains continue across the region.
Nearby in Uganda, flash floods and mudslides have also claimed several lives, destroying homes and crops near the Kenyan border.
