A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Mhlasini, KwaZulu-Natal, when a two-month-old baby boy was found dead while under the care of a family friend.

According to reports, the baby’s mother had left him with her friend on Friday afternoon before going out. The caregiver said the infant was sleeping beside her but became unresponsive around 3 a.m. when she tried to feed him.

Unable to reach the mother, the friend called for emergency assistance. Authorities have since launched an investigation to determine what led to the child’s death.
