Media Statement POLOKWANE – Three male suspects who are foreign nationals arrested for possession of illicit cigarettes along the R71 Dalmada, in Polokwane policing area under Capricorn District, in the early hours of Friday, 22 November 2024. Members of Provincial Flying Squad were patrolling when they spotted two suspicious vehicles driving in a convoy. They immediately stopped the vehicles, a Ford Ranger bakkie, and Toyota Hilux. Both of them were found loaded with the boxes of illicit cigarettes named Royal Express. The three suspects were then arrested. The illicit cigarettes are worth an estimated street value of R190 000-00. The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Police, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has welcomed the arrest. The suspects will soon appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court, facing possession, and transportation of illicit cigarettes and contravention of immigration act.
Police investigations are continuing.
