Three Arrested After Hawks Seize R10m Mandrax Tablets in Hout Bay
Three suspects aged between 41 and 60 have been arrested in Hout Bay, Cape Town after the Hawks seized 172,000 mandrax tablets valued at approximately R10 million.
Western Cape Hawks spokesperson Warrant Officer Zinzi Hani said the tablets were discovered hidden in a false compartment during an intelligence-driven operation in which two vehicles were stopped and searched.
The suspects remain in custody and face charges of drug trafficking. They are expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 12 October 2026.
The seizure comes amid a series of drug-related investigations, with the Hawks recently uncovering suspected mandrax manufacturing laboratories in the North West and Gauteng.
