The Provincial School Safety Launch comes at an expedient time following the abduction of one of our learners

Tackling issues around bullying, gangsterism, gender-based violence, sexism and sexual abuse, substance use and abuse, racism and adverse ill-discipline in our schools, this launch seeks to re-ignite a much-needed conversation around these.

Addressing over 300 learners and high ranking officials from the South African Police Services, the Departments of Social Development, Health, Justice & Constitutional Services and Correctional Services as well as Teacher Unions, the Head Of Department Adv. Malakoane on behalf of the MEC Dr. MJ Maboya said “This campaign is more than an event for us; it is a collective call to action and a moment of reckoning with a hard reality: our schools are not always the safe spaces they ought to be. For too many of our children, walking into a classroom comes with anxiety, not assurance, with fear, not freedom”.
