South Africa is in for a stormy Saturday, with heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds and hail expected across parts of the interior.

The South African Weather Service has issued an Orange Level 5 warning for severe thunderstorms over parts of the Northern Cape, with risks of flooding, hail, strong winds, falling trees and lightning-related damage.

Yellow-level warnings are also in place across parts of North West, Free State, Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Limpopo.

Residents are urged to avoid flooded roads and monitor weather updates as unsettled conditions continue.
