Two suspects were shot and fatally wounded during a shootout with police at Nhlungwane Area 1 in Inanda on the morning of Tuesday, 18 February 2025.

Police, acting on intelligence about the suspects’ whereabouts, tracked them to a house. Upon announcing their presence, the suspects opened fire, prompting police to retaliate. Both suspects were fatally wounded, and two firearms were recovered at the scene. A third suspect, who did not engage in the shootout, was arrested.

A few days earlier, law-abiding residents of Inanda had tipped off police about the suspects, believed to be behind house robberies and other crimes in the area. Investigations have since linked them to the notorious Inanda West Gang.

The arrested suspect is set to appear in court.
