Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – Efforts by members attached to Mfuleni Crime Information and Management Analysis Centre (CIMAC) and Public Order Police in the fight against the illegal distribution of drugs in our communities and to put the offenders of the law behind bars, yielded positive results when they confiscated a large amount of drugs in separate incidents. On Thursday 08 August 2024 Mfuleni CIMAC fieldworkers followed up on information gathered from their own reliable sources in Wesbank, and arrested a 57-year-old suspect for possession of drugs. Information was received about drugs at a premises in Ouplaas Street in Wesbank . The members immediately operationalised the information and searched the premises where they found nine plastic bags containing tik with an estimated street value of R10 000.00. In a separate incident, on 08 August 2024 at about 14:40 members attached to Public Order Police deployed in Grabouw followed up on information received about drugs at a premises in B155 Beverley Hills, Grabouw. The members immediately operationalised the information and searched the premises where they found 675 mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R33 750.00 and an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of crime A 43-year-old suspect was arrested for the possession of mandrax, and he was detained at Grabouw police station free from any visible injuries. Both suspects are due to appear in the Blue Downs and Grabouw Magistrates’ courts on Monday, 12 August 2024 respectively on their mentioned charges. Ends
