Johannesburg-born powerhouse Rēfilwe is redefining the traditional breakup song with her highly anticipated second single, “Done.”
Officially released on 12 June 2026, the track masterfully flips the script on heartbreak, trading standard melodies of sorrow for an empowering, high-energy rhythm that demands movement.
Produced alongside the legendary Mojalefa “Mjakes” Thebe, “Done” blends upbeat Afropop with infectious Amapiano-inspired textures. The song creates a captivating irony, pairing heavy themes of romantic departure with a sonic backdrop that inspires joy and relief. Rather than mourning a loss, Rēfilwe intentionally focuses on the liberation and peace that follow the choice to walk away from toxic situations.
“The song is called ‘Done’ because it represents the end of something,” Rēfilwe shares. “I was inspired by the fact that the end of a bad relationship can be the beginning of something beautiful… Just because something hurts when it ends, it doesn’t mean that moving on was the wrong decision.”
This release highlights a dramatic sonic evolution for the rising star. While her debut single, “Home,” was a soulful blend of Pop, R&B, and traditional Marabi sounds, “Done” proves her artistic versatility as she boldly explores contemporary South African club rhythms.
