R521 Near Vivo Closed After Truck Jackknifes: Motorists Warned
A key stretch of the R521 near Vivo in Limpopo remains temporarily closed after a truck jackknifed while attempting to make a U-turn, leaving the vehicle blocking the roadway and disrupting traffic.
The incident occurred near the Vivo Junction, next to Vivo Garage, as the truck driver attempted to turn around before continuing towards Alldays.
According to the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety, the manoeuvre went wrong when the truck jackknifed and became an obstruction on the road.
Traffic officials have been deployed to the scene as authorities work to manage the disruption and safely move motorists around the affected section.
Temporary traffic plan in place
Although the affected section of the R521 remains closed, traffic officers have introduced a temporary management plan to keep vehicles moving.
Motorists travelling to and from Alldays, as well as those heading towards the LTT side, are being allowed to use the edge of the road where possible.
However, authorities are warning drivers to approach the area with extreme caution.
The narrow passage around the obstruction could create additional risks, particularly for motorists travelling through the area at speed or attempting to overtake.
Motorists urged to remain patient
The department has appealed to motorists to follow instructions from traffic officers and other law-enforcement officials at the scene.
Drivers are also urged to avoid unnecessary risks while passing the obstruction and to expect possible delays.
Where alternative routes are available, motorists are encouraged to consider using them until the roadway has been fully cleared.
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety says further updates will be issued as more information becomes available.
For now, motorists using the R521 near Vivo are being urged to slow down, remain alert and cooperate with officials working to restore normal traffic flow.
