Premier MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae was visibly distraught as she spoke about three Free State police officers whose bodies were retrived from Hennops river near Centurion on Tuesday, 29 April 2025.
Constables Linda Cebekhulu, Boipelo Senoge and Keamogetswe Buys went missing last week en route to Limpopo province on official duty. Their vehicle was last seen in Johannesburg before completely disappearing off the radar.
A frantic search for the three was launched and R350 000 reward was offered for information that could lead to their safe return but even that did not yield the desired results.
National police commissionGeneral Fanie Masemola confirmed South Africans’ worst fears when he announced that three of the bodies recovered from the river were those of the missing trio.
