Media Statement QUMBU – A white Nissan bakkie – NP 200 was hijacked from its owner (victim) who was from the hospital by four unknown males at gunpoint on Thursday morning, 09 January 2025 at about 09:00 and a case of carjacking was opened at Mount Frere Police station. The victim was dropped off at Tina Bridge – Qumbu at about 10:00 am and afterwards Qumbu police were informed of a vehicle being stripped at Xotwe locality and with their swift response managed to recover the hijacked vehicle and arrested one male suspect aged 22. Police investigation on the matter is ongoing. The arrested suspect is charged for possession of suspected stolen vehicle and will appear at Qumbu Magistrate Court on Friday, 10 January 2025. Ends
