Pirates steamroll Gallants — Sibisi seals it, title chase stays red-hot

Orlando Pirates just keep rolling. Bottom-placed Marumo Gallants were brushed aside 2-0 on Sunday as the Buccaneers stayed unbeaten and climbed to 19 points — breathing down Sundowns’ necks.

This wasn’t pretty. It was professional. Ruthless. Exactly what a title contender does on the road.

The opener that killed the contest

32nd minute. Kabelo Kgositsile timed his run to perfection, sprung the offside trap, and coolly slotted past EMile Lako. One chance. One goal. Game over in all but name.

Gallants had a golden chance to hit back instantly. Kunene went clean through on Chaine… and skied it. That miss has summed up their season thus far.

The dagger

74th minute. Thapelo Mokobodi whipped in a cross from acorner kick. Captain Nkosinathi Sibisi rose highest and buried the header. 0-2. Lights out.

Pirates bossed 68% possession, created the only real chances, and never looked like conceding.

Mbuthuma picked up a cheap yellow, but that was as close as Gallants got to disrupting them.

The bigger picture

Pirates: 6 wins, 1 draw, 16 goals scored, 1 conceded in seven league games.

Gallants: still waiting for their first win. Bottom of the table.

The Buccaneers are playing like a team that expects to be there in May. Clinical finishing, organised defending, and zero drama.
