North West prepared to maintain law and order during planned national march

Following directives issued by President Cyril Ramaphosa, and reinforced by the Acting Minister of Police Firoz Cachalia to ensure the maintenance of law and order, stability, and public safety during the planned national march on 30 June 2026, North West Premier Lazarus Kagiso Mokgosi, Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Dr Ryno Naidoo, and MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management, Wessels Morweng, addressed members of the media on the Province’s state of readiness.

The North West Provincial Government, through the Provincial Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (PROVJOINTS), in collaboration with SAPS, Community Policing Forums (CPFs), and other stakeholders, has assured communities that the Province is fully prepared to ensure safety, stability, and the uninterrupted delivery of services during the planned marches.

The assurance was made during a State of Readiness Media Briefing held at the Provincial Disaster Management Centre in Mahikeng on Tuesday.

The briefing provided an update on the Province’s preparedness and the operational plans developed through close coordination between government departments, law enforcement agencies, CPFs, and other key stakeholders.

Both Mokgosi and Naidoo emphasised that 30 June 2026 will be business as usual across the Province.

Residents are encouraged to continue with their daily activities, including attending work, conducting business, and commuting as normal.

They further indicated that identified hotspot areas across the Province will be visited and closely monitored by law enforcement agencies, CPF structures, and government officials to ensure stability and prevent any disruptions.

Naidoo highlighted that SAPS deployments will be maintained on a 24-hour basis in identified priority areas, supported by ongoing risk assessments and coordinated operational plans.

Morweng expressed confidence in the Province’s readiness and commended the strong collaboration between all stakeholders involved.

He emphasised that all government, law enforcement, and community safety structures stand ready to fulfil their responsibilities.

The State of Readiness Briefing reaffirmed the commitment to ensuring a safe, secure, and stable environment for all residents during the planned marches on 30 June 2026.
