Media Statement PARKTOWN – Four suspects, aged between 25 and 32, were arrested in Ekurhuleni District on Tuesday, 25 June 2024, for their involvement in ATM bombing, illegal mining, and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The successful crime intelligence operation resulted in the seizure of a shotgun with five live rounds, drugs, and stolen property. The suspects are believed to be linked to multiple cases of ATM bombing and illegal mining in Ekurhuleni District and other areas in Gauteng province. In a separate incident, police in Soweto followed information about the ATM Bombing suspects in the area. Information led the police to a house where stained cash was found. The search for the suspects is underway. The police are committed to tackling the ongoing issues of ATM bombing and illegal mining in the area, and this operation marks a significant step forward in this effort. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are working hard to identify and apprehend all those involved. The suspects will appear before the Magistrate’s Court soon. Ends
