Award-winning South African Hip-Hop artist Mthembeni Ndevu, universally known as Emtee, has issued an emotional public apology addressing the highly publicized fallout of his marriage.
Released through his label, Emtee Records, the official statement breaks the musician’s silence following months of toxic public spats, allegations, and legal restrictions involving his estranged wife, Nicole Chinsamy.
“Over the past few months, my personal life has unfolded in the public eye in ways that have affected not only me, but also people I deeply care about. Today, I want to take a moment to speak from the heart. I am sincerely sorry for the pain, disappointment and emotional strain that our journey has caused you. While no relationship is without its challenges, I acknowledge that there are moments where I could have shown greater understanding, compassion and maturity. For that, I offer my heartfelt apology,” he said.
Taking an introspective tone, the Roll Up hitmaker acknowledged the toll that his private life has taken on his inner circle.
He directly addressed the emotional strain the turbulent relationship has caused, admitting that there were moments where he lacks the necessary “understanding, compassion and maturity“.
The rapper shifted his focus heavily toward protection and accountability regarding his family.
Expressing profound remorse to his three children for exposing them to relentless public scrutiny, Emtee emphasized that they deserve stability and love above all else, promising that his commitment to being a better father remains unwavering.
“To my children, I am deeply sorry that they have had to witness aspects of our personal lives become public. They deserve love, stability and parents who place their well-being above everything else. My commitment to them remains unwavering. This season has challenged me to reflect deeply on the man I am and the man I aspire to become. Growth requires honesty, accountability and the willingness to change, not only through words, but through consistent actions. That is the journey I am committed to,” he said.
While the statement marks a definitive attempt at personal growth, the rapper maintained a strict boundary regarding his active legal matters. Emtee has recently been under stringent bail conditions following an alleged violation of a 2023 domestic protection order.
In accordance with those legal constraints, he noted that he will no longer comment on matters currently before the courts, promising to respect the judicial process with complete integrity.
“Out of respect for everyone involved, I will not be commenting on matters that are currently before the courts. I remain committed to following the legal process with respect and integrity. I ask for privacy and grace for both our families as we navigate this chapter separately. My hope is that time brings healing, peace and healthier paths for everyone involved,” Emtee added.
Concluding his statement, Emtee explicitly wished Nicole “peace, healing and happiness” as they officially navigate their separate paths, while extending deep gratitude to his fanbase—The Hustlers—for keeping him accountable.
