Media Statement MOSSEL- BAY – The determination of police to ensure that those who threatens the safety of communities are brought to book, once again led to the arrest of two men sought in connection with a murder charge. They are expected to make their first court appearance in the Mossel Bay Magistrates’ court on Monday, 27 January 2025. Preliminary investigation suggests that on Tuesday, 22 January 2025, at about 23:00 Kwanonqaba police members were dispatched to a scene at Johnson Street, Asla Park in Mosel Bay where a person was stabbed. On arrival the members found the victim, Johnathan Malgas (40), with multiple stab wounds to his body. The victim was declared deceased by paramedics on scene. The suspects fled the scene and a manhunt was launched. Further investigation led to the arrest of two suspects aged 18 and 20 later the week. It is also believed that one of the suspects is the son of the deceased. In an unrelated matter, Mossel Bay police arrested a 37 old suspect on an attempted murder charge following an incident at Point Road, Mossel Bay on Friday, 24 January 2025 at about 22:30. Investigation into the shooting reveals that two men were involved in an altercation when a shot was fired. A 34 year old man sustained a gunshot wound to the body. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for medical care. The suspect was later taken into custody on a murder charge. He remains in police custody and is expected to make his first court appearance in the Mossel Bay Magistrates’ court on Monday, 27 January 2025. A 9mm licensed firearm was confiscated during the arrest. Both suspects remain in police custody. Ends
