Marry Me mass shooting suspect faces multiple charges, abandon bail
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the 27-year-old man accused in the Marry Me informal settlement mass shooting in Soshanguve, Pretoria, is facing a string of serious charges.
He has been formally charged with six counts of murder and five counts of attempted murder following the March 22, 2025, ambush on community safety patrollers that left six people dead and several others injured.
The accused, a Zimbabwean national, also faces charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of ammunition, and contravening the Immigration Act due to his undocumented status in South Africa.
He has since abandoned his bail application and remains in custody. The matter has been postponed to April 17, 2025, for further court proceedings.
