MARCH AND MARCH MOVEMENT URGES VOTERS TO REJECT PARTIES ALIGNED WITH ANC AHEAD OF 04 NOVEMBER ELECTIONS
Johannesburg: The March and March Movement has called on eligible South African voters to reject political parties that are aligned with or maintain political alliances with the African National Congress (ANC) in the upcoming Local Government Elections to take place on 04 November 2026.
In a strongly worded political appeal, the movement urged registered voters to use their ballots to demand political accountability, arguing that parties working alongside the ANC should also be held accountable for the government’s performance.
The movement appealed to voters not to support political parties it accuses of sharing political interests with the governing party, saying South Africans should consider whether such political arrangements serve the interests of ordinary citizens.
It argued that the country’s persistent unemployment, alleged failures in service delivery, immigration challenges, township economy and concerns about public safety should feature prominently in voters’ decisions at the ballot box.
The organisation specifically highlighted South Africa’s unemployment crisis, citing figures of 32% overall unemployment and approximately 47% youth unemployment as reasons voters should carefully assess the political choices before them.
The movement further argued that South Africans should not continue to experience economic exclusion while competing for limited employment opportunities, government services and space in township economies.
It called on eligible voters to turn out in numbers on election day and support political leadership that, according to the organisation, is committed to prioritising citizens’ interests and addressing the country’s socioeconomic challenges.
The movement’s appeal forms part of its broader criticism of the government’s handling of immigration, alleged hijacking of buildings, crime and economic opportunities.
It maintained that the ballot box provides citizens with an opportunity to express dissatisfaction with political leadership and demand a different approach to governance.
The organisation reiterated that its position was informed by its commitment to the Constitution, the rule of law and what it describes as the need to restore the dignity of South African citizens.
