March and March movement to protest every week until government prioritizes South Africans
The most budgeted provincial protest has demonstrated a peaceful, undocumented migrants march from King Dinizulu Park to the central police station in Durban on Monday.
The protest was led by March and March Movement leaders and several political parties in support of the movement.
Provincial police deployed more than 100 officers and private security companies through the national government budget.
The country security cluster confirmed that R66 million was budgeted to maintain law and order throughout the country, especially in Durban.
Even though President Cyril Ramaphosa emphasized that 30 June is not a public holiday, Durban CBD was on shutdown, only government departments and restaurants were in operation.
The memorandum was handed over by the Movement leader Jancita Mangobese Zuma to the Deputy Minister of Coghsta David Masemola and Second Deputy Minister of Police Cassel Mathale accompanied by the EThekwini Mayor.
The highlighted demands are:
- Township Economy should be restrived back to the local people instead of foreigners
- Implementation of the Employment Services Act
- Stronger border security
- Deportation of undocumented foreigners
- Stricter enforcement on foreign nationals
- Prioritising South African citizens for jobs and public services
- Police lifestyle audit
- Police presence in drug lords areas such as Berea, Sunnyside, Yeoville, and High Point
Mangobese has also called upon South Africans to refrain from supporting spaza shops operating in their communities.
The movement, which will hold a press briefing on Tuesday ( 01 July 2026) hsd given President Ramaphosa six months to attend to their demands.
