Lorraine Moropa Launches Foundation to Restore Hope in Daveyton Community
Success has brought fame, recognition and leading television roles for actress Lorraine Moropa. Now, she wants it to bring something even more meaningful to the community that raised her.
The 29 year old actress, best known for portraying Mpho Tshabalala in Nkalakatha: Life of Mandoza and Olerato Matee in The Queen, has officially launched the Lorraine SA Foundation, a community driven initiative dedicated to restoring hope and creating opportunities for the people of Daveyton.
For Moropa, the foundation is far more than another celebrity charity project. She describes it as the fulfilment of a prayer she has carried for years and a calling to use her growing platform to make a lasting difference.
The initiative is already taking shape on the ground.
This week, Moropa visited the John Wesley Community Centre in her hometown of Daveyton, where she donated food and personally helped prepare lunch for members of the congregation. The visit marked one of the foundation’s first community outreach activities and reflected the hands on approach she hopes will define its work.
Speaking about the launch, Moropa said the moment represents the answer to years of prayer.
She explained that she had always hoped her success would extend beyond her own achievements and become a source of hope for others.
“I was praying for an opportunity to lead, develop communities, and restore hope. Indeed, today my prayer has been answered.”
As part of the launch, Moropa also unveiled the official volunteer uniform for the Lorraine SA Foundation. She said the clothing carries deep personal meaning and symbolises the responsibility she has accepted.
According to the actress, the uniform is a reminder that true leadership requires compassion, humility and remaining connected to the very people the foundation exists to serve.
“The yoke of leading with love and dignity, ensuring you do not lose touch with the very people you aim to help.”
Moropa described the foundation as a calling she embraces with gratitude and a commitment to serving others with sincerity.
Looking ahead, she said her greatest hope is that every person touched by the foundation experiences meaningful and lasting change. Her vision is to create a legacy that will continue benefiting future generations long after her acting career.
She also expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has helped turn the vision into reality.
“To everyone who played a part, supported me, worked hard without expecting anything in return, and believed in this vision, thank you for walking this journey with me. This is just the beginning. Luke 12:48 says, ‘From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.'”
Moropa has steadily built an impressive career in South African television, earning roles across several popular productions. Her acting credits include Lithapo, where she played Pabi, The Station as Mbali, Ikani as Babazile, In The Dock as Portia Motaung, Housekeepers as Katlego, Hope as Rethabile and Guilt, where she portrayed Dimpho Makgopa.
While audiences have come to know Lorraine Moropa for her performances on screen, the launch of the Lorraine SA Foundation signals a new chapter. One that shifts the spotlight from acting to community impact, with Daveyton at the heart of her mission.
