Media Statement POLOKWANE – The Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offenses Unit in Mokopane continues to rid the society of sexual predators who prey on vulnerable children. This was evident when the Thabamoopo Regional Court sentenced a 37-year-old man to serve life imprisonment in jail. The sentence was handed down on Thursday, 27 June 2024, after the accused was found guilty of raping his 11-year-old biological daughter. The sentence emanated from a reprehensible event that unfolded at Ga-Ntamatisi village in Zebediela policing area on 30 April 2021, where the convict raped his biological daughter, who was 11-year-old at the time. The heartless criminal waited until his wife left home and sneaked on the child and violated her. The victim disclosed the ordeal to her mother when she returned, and the matter was immediately reported to the police. The accused was arrested the following day, and Detective Sergeant Khomotso Rammutla was assigned to investigate the case. He successfully opposed bail and secured the lengthy sentence. The Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has praised the diligent work of the investigating officer and stated that the sentence serves as a stern warning that such a heinous nature will not be tolerated in our society.
