KwaZulu-Natal entrepreneurs gain practical tools, funding insights and industry connections as the Growth Fund Agency strengthens its push to build resilient businesses and stimulate economic growth.

Building a successful business requires far more than access to funding. Entrepreneurs also need the knowledge, networks and strategic skills to compete in a rapidly changing economy.

That message took centre stage when the KwaZulu-Natal Growth Fund Agency (KZNGFA) concluded its Business Masterclass on 27 July 2026, bringing together entrepreneurs, business leaders, industry specialists and ecosystem partners for a day focused on preparing businesses for sustainable growth and future investment.

The initiative forms part of the agency’s broader strategy to strengthen local enterprises, develop industrialists and create an environment where businesses can expand, attract investment and contribute meaningfully to KwaZulu-Natal’s economy.

Throughout the masterclass, delegates participated in practical sessions covering investment readiness, business growth strategies, corporate governance, innovation, funding opportunities and the importance of building resilient organisations capable of navigating an increasingly competitive marketplace.

Rather than focusing solely on financial support, the programme highlighted the wider challenges entrepreneurs face as they seek to grow sustainable businesses.

Speaking after the event, KZNGFA Acting Chief Investment Officer Sandile Magubane said the agency remains committed to supporting entrepreneurs beyond providing capital.

“Access to finance is only one part of the entrepreneurial journey,” Magubane said.

“Businesses also need access to knowledge, networks and practical skills that enable them to grow sustainably. This masterclass reflects our commitment to building businesses that are investment ready and capable of creating long term economic value for KwaZulu-Natal.”

The event also provided valuable networking opportunities, allowing entrepreneurs to engage directly with investors, industry experts and fellow business owners. These interactions created opportunities to exchange ideas, build strategic partnerships and explore future collaborations that could unlock new business opportunities.

With technology continuing to reshape industries across South Africa and globally, discussions also focused on digital transformation and the growing need for businesses to embrace technology driven models that improve efficiency, competitiveness and access to wider markets.

For many entrepreneurs attending the event, the masterclass offered practical guidance that could be implemented immediately within their businesses. Participants also gained a clearer understanding of what investors look for when evaluating businesses seeking funding and long term partnerships.

The agency believes that strengthening entrepreneurial capability remains essential to creating sustainable businesses that generate employment, attract investment and support inclusive economic growth across KwaZulu-Natal.

As part of its long term development strategy, the KwaZulu-Natal Growth Fund Agency says it will continue hosting initiatives that equip entrepreneurs with the skills, partnerships and resources needed to build stronger, investment ready enterprises capable of driving the province’s economic future.
