Media Statement KWAZULU-NATAL – On Friday, 15 November 2024, in a coordinated operation between the Hawks members from Port Shepstone Serious Organised Crime Investigation, the KwaZulu-Natal Counter Narcotics Unit and the Durban Metro Police Drug Team, a 32year o-ld suspect was arrested at Silver Heights Crescent in Chatsworth for dealing in drugs. Acting on intelligence information about drugs sales in the area, the police conducted an intelligence-driven operation and proceeded to the identified address. During the operation, the suspect was spotted selling drugs and upon noticing the police, attempted to flee. The police gave chase and eventually apprehended the suspect, charging him with dealing in drugs. A search of the suspect yielded various types of drugs, valued at an estimated R9 370-00, which were seized for further investigation. He is expected to appear in the Chatsworth Magistrates court, today, 15 November 2024. The KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General (Dr) Lesetja Senona applauded the members for the good. He further said that the successful operation demonstrates the effectiveness of joint law enforcement efforts in combating drug-related crime in the Chatsworth area. Ends
