Media Statement KIMBERLEY – The Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola and her management welcomed the 30 year prison sentence imposed by the Colesberg High Court on 41-year-old Crawford Khuse following the murder of his 41 year old partner, Sophie Top in Hanover between the 05 July 2023 and 07 August 2023 The Court heard that the deceased was last seen alive when the accused fetched her from her home. On Monday, 07 August 2023, a municipal worker who was emptying a sewage septic tank inside the yard of the accused, discovered the body of the deceased and informed the police. Khuse was sentenced to 30 years imprisonment for murder and an additional 3 years for defeating the ends of justice, which will run concurrently with murder sentence Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, praised the Investigating Officer Detective Sergeant Khanyisa Kalashi for the meticulous investigation of the case and ensuring that the accused is brought to book. The police in mitigating gender-based violence will continue to engage the community through social crime prevention programmes.
