Flash Ikumkani and Emtee Unite to Tackle Industry Drama in New Summer Anthem “BADMAN”
Eastern Cape-born hip-hop sensation Flash Ikumkani has officially launched the pre-add for his highly anticipated album, MINENZIMA, dropping its lead single, “BADMAN,” featuring South African rap heavyweight Emtee.
The new track blends a smooth, summer-ready rhythm with a gritty, street-centered narrative.
Already gaining significant traction and climbing the charts on 5FM, “BADMAN” marks a major milestone as one of the first South African gangster hip-hop records to achieve mainstream radio rotation.
At its core, “BADMAN” addresses the irony of doing the right thing but still being painted as the villain.
Drawing from their personal journeys in the music industry, Flash Ikumkani and Emtee use the track to call out manufactured beefs, jealousy, and clout-chasing drama.
“‘BADMAN’ comes from real-life experiences,” says Flash Ikumkani.
“Sometimes you can do the right thing and still be made out to be the bad guy, especially in an industry where people create unnecessary beef just to get attention.
You cannot control what everyone thinks about you, but you can control how you move and what you stand for.”
The track reunites Flash Ikumkani with Emtee, the rap veteran who gave Flash his first major breakthrough early in his career.
The chemistry between the two is well-proven; their previous hit, “Mama,” recently surpassed one million streams on Spotify. On “BADMAN,” their creative partnership comes full circle, serving as a powerful statement on resilience and staying true to one’s path.
Born Hlumile Mangoloti in King William’s Town, Flash Ikumkani has steadily built a reputation for infusing contemporary hip-hop with authentic isiXhosa lyricism.
His rising profile has already earned him a spot as the first Xhosa rapper invited to the BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher, a South African Hip Hop Award nomination, and a memorable performance at the Back to the City festival.
“BADMAN” offers a potent preview of what is to come on Flash’s upcoming album, MINENZIMA, set to release on 13 November 2026.
Named after his late grandfather, the album is a deeply personal tribute to the man whose guidance shaped Flash’s family across generations.
The project promises to take listeners on an emotional journey through Flash’s hardships, setbacks, and victories.
Beyond Emtee, the star-studded album will feature a diverse lineup of collaborators, including Nomfundo, La Souce, Lowfeye, and Kraizie.
“BADMAN” is available to stream now on all major digital platforms alongside the pre-add for MINENZIMA.
