Media Statement FREE STATE – A 33-year-old man is remanded in custody after a 2-year-old female minor was found with multiple injuries and allegedly raped in Virginia. On Tuesday, 14 January 2025, at about 00:45 police were summoned to a complaint of suspected child neglect at a flat in Virginia. On arrival, they found the female minor with serious multiple injuries on her face and body, covered with a jacket on her upper body. The child was taken for medical treatment and examination. Preliminary investigations were conducted and revealed that the 2-year-old was allegedly sexually assaulted. The 33-year-old man was subsequently arrested and charged with attempted murder and rape.
He appeared in the Virginia Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 15 January 2025. The case was postponed to 22 January 2025 while he remains in custody.
